Step 1. Fill in the Water Tank

Place your new capsule in the machine. As I mentioned previously, its rim has a code that tells the machine what type and amount of coffee it needs to brew. You do not need to make any further adjustments at this point!
When the capsule is in place, gently touch the lever again and the machine will automatically close.
Step 4. Put Cup in Position
Next, place your cup on the drip tray, but make sure it can hold the amount of coffee that is going to be brewed.
Step 5. Press Button to Brew
Push the button on the machine again to start the brewing process. You will see that the green light around it will start to make circular movements — this means the coffee is brewing! You’ll see the coffee starting to flow into your cup. When your coffee is done, the light will take a steady position again.
Step 6. Enjoy Your Coffee!
After the brewing is done, all you need to do is take your cup of coffee and enjoy it. Nudge the lever up and the capsule will automatically be ejected into the dispenser. You can leave the machine to shut off or you can do so manually by holding the main button.

If you have a brand new Nespresso VertuoPlus or if you have one that you have not used in a while, you will need to run a cleaning cycle. You can do the same if you want to give your machine a nice wash. It is simple, easy, and it does not require any special products!
- To run the cleaning cycle through your machine, you need to make sure that there is no capsule left in it.
- Empty the chamber and the dispenser, then take the water tank and fill it with filtered water.
- Turn on the machine and add a 0.8L container to the drip tray.
- Once the machine is heated, you should press the top button three times in two seconds. You will see the green light turn orange. This means that your machine is preparing for the cleaning cycle. It will take around five minutes for the machine to go through its three cleaning cycles.
- After those five minutes, your light will go back to green — that is how you know that the machine is completely clean.
- The only other thing you can do is remove the water container, drip tray, and capsule dispenser and give them a nice clean-up with a damp cloth. Once you do that, you will be able to say that your machine is cleaned to perfection!
How Often Should to Clean Your Nespresso Vertuoplus
You should clean your VertuoPlus regularly to keep it working properly. The company recommends that you clean it every 300 capsules or once every three months.
